We announced today the unveiling of our latest all-electric conversion platform, the GM Chevrolet Equinox, which will be revealed to the world today as part of the grand opening ceremonies of our first showroom.

Electric Equinox

Today's announcement is one of historic proportions, as the event is poised to make AMP the first to bring to market an all-electric, crossover vehicle for retail sale. The AMP'd Equinox is a converted or up-fitted GM Chevrolet Equinox that is a 100% electric, clean conversion, American-made vehicle. The vehicle will reach a top speed of 90 miles an hour, and will go from zero to 60 miles per hour in approximately eight seconds, with a charge voltage of either 110V or 220V. And with pricing expected to be below $50,000, after government incentives, we believe the AMP'd Equinox is also quite affordable.

The AMP'd Equinox, utilizing high efficiency Remy motors, will travel up to 150 miles on a single charge, which compares favorably to the Nissan Leaf which will travel up to 100 miles on a charge. The Leaf is not expected to reach the market until January 2011.

Have you delivered any Sky/Solstice vehicles to customers?  Can you talk about the battery pack, cell brand, type, number, capacity, BMS, etc.?  Are you using the PM motor or AC induction?  What inverter?
Thanks, John

the agenda is to reduce the emisions of Co2?  So an electric car is an iimprovement , yes it is but as Ibm say (you can do better), we need something solar, something magnetic ¿?  something else that will not depend on Electric Energy.  but anyway , bravo to you!

IS the $50,000.00 price tag on top of my purchase of the vehicle from GM?

Linda,
Thank you for the kudos.  We know, however, that this is just one step in the long term game.  We will continue to advance our technologies with time and as they become available and affordable.

John,
The price of $50,000 is a ball park for the total package.  The final cost of your converted vehicle will be determined by the number of features you choose when purchasing the Equinox/Sky/Solstice for conversion.

I am anxious to follow your progress.  Right now the price is out of my range so hopefully as your market accpetance/volume increase you will be able to pass on costs through reduced prices.  Something in the high 30's/low 40's would be able to capture me.

Not sure how much of the government tax credit can be applied to your cars, but here is the tax credit quote from the government website www.fueleconomy.gov - "Electric vehicles (EVs) purchased in or after 2010 may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500. The credit amount will vary based on the capacity of the battery used to fuel the vehicle".

I'll continue to watch your progress.

I always find technical advancements remarkable. I'am glad there is a challenge to the Nissan Leaf vehicle, however, price is key if this electric car is going to be America's future. A midsize car that can comfortably seat 5 Americans and have the ability to travel no less than 400 miles on a single charge and can be purchased for less than $25000.00 still remains to be the goal. Anything less is not going to overwhelm the Car market or the American public. Let's stretch our imaginations and go big for the American people.

WoW, 150 miles are you kidding me? On 1 charge? Amazing. I barely get 15 miles with my mustang. I get greedy thoughts when I think of buying electric cars and thinking about the money i could be saving.

I would prefer this Electric GM Chevrolet Equinox, than any other Electric cars out there.
I wanna have one of these...

I think there are many options out there, not sure Equinox is best one but that is your choice of course, I don`t like GM electic cars because had one and sold them after 2 months, now I have newest BMW X5 hybrid and it is excellent.

@ 5/11/2010 12:22:16 PM United States

I think even price bellow 50,000 $ is to high for that, for 50K I could purchase 1 year old Audi A6 3.0 TDI or 2 years old Audi Q7 3.0 TDI for example, electric cars are too expensive now to think seriously about purchase, for me of course.

@ 5/12/2010 11:08:57 AM United States

In my opinion is to early to purchase any electric or Hybrid car, thechology is to young. Diesel cars are better, I have VW Bora 1.9 TDI - 4,5 litres /100 km ,the friend of mine has Toyota Prius and his result is 5,5 litres minimum, but this is hybrid. Theregore I can say electric or hybrid cars aren`t worth of the money at the moment

Ensuring that electric cars look and handle like their predecessors would smooth the transition.

It's nice idea to have a electric car, but at the moment they still to expensive and only for short distance driving.

The future is certainly looking greener, but I'm not sure it will catch on, peop-le like speed, and I don't see electric cars producing that much. On the other hand the environment is more important and I've even seen people swimming with sports headphones to get fit, anything can happen, check it out @ http://www.ipodswimming.com
